Rebecca Skloot
Rebecca Skloot is the author of the #1 New York Times best seller The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Her specific interest and speciality is science narrative writing, and she has researched a variety of interesting topics including goldfish surgery and packs of wild dogs in Manhattan. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks took Skloot over a decade to write and research. With all that hard work, it is no surprise that Skloot received many awards. Some of these awards include the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize for Nonfiction, the National Academies of Science Best Book of the Year award, the American Association for the Advancement of Science Best Young Adult Book award, the Wellcome Trust Book Prize, and two Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Nonfiction Book of the Year and Best Debut Author of the year. She is also the founder of the Henrietta Lacks foundation, which shows her passion and dedication to her memory and to bring awareness of the medical ethics associated with HeLa cells.
